CHILDREN are invited to find the Gruffalo in Barnard Castle on Sunday, August 9.

The event, organised by the Heart of Teesdale Landscape Partnership, will feature a free family friendly walk in Flatts Wood, at 2pm.

The walk will follow the story of the Gruffalo with activities along the way and is part of a series of guided walks taking place on the second Sunday of every month.

The guided walks are part of the Partnership’s Trails through Teesdale Programme which aims to provide local people and visitors with the knowledge they need to make the most of exploring the area, by providing leaflets, booklets and audio trails.

The events are free of charge but booking is essential and participants should wear suitable clothing and footwear.

All ages are welcome but routes are not suitable for pushchairs and wheelchair users. Also, children must be accompanied by a responsible parent or guardian.

Dogs are also welcome, but must be kept under close control at all times.

All walks can be found by visiting heartofteesdale.net while people can also find them on Facebook and twitter by searching for ‘Heart of Teesdale’.
