A SCHOOLGIRL has won her dream bike after entering a competition to design it.

Evie Sands, seven, entered the competition held by house builder David Wilson Homes, who asked pupils to design their perfect bike to support National Bike Week last month.

Evie, who attends the Ox Close Primary School pupil, in Spennymoor, fought off several entries and impressed the judges with her creativity and imagination.

Her design was of a purple bike with stars as cushions and ‘I love bikes’ written on the wheels.

It also fulfilled Evie’s love of One Direction as the bike plays the band’s songs every time she presses the horn.

Evie was presented with her new bike as a surprise during a school assembly by sales advisor, Carol Jukes, from the company’s nearby Burton Woods development.

Headteacher, Daniel Harrison, said: “Evie was as proud as punch to win and a very well deserving victor, she’s a lovely little girl.”

Chris Neal, Sales Manager for David Wilson Homes North East, added: “We had a fantastic response to our drawing competition with lots of great ideas, which made choosing a winner very difficult.

“Evie showed great creativity and a real love for cycling and we hope that she enjoys her new bike and continues to enjoy cycling and drawing.”
