AN armed robber threatened a barman with a kitchen knife and made off with thousands of pounds worth of cash.

The staff member was cashing up at the Kings Arms Public House in Billingham on Saturday, July 4 between 12.15am and 12.35 am when the robber entered the pub, pulled him to the floor and threatened him with the knife.

The suspect then made off with thousands of pounds worth of cash.

He was described as being white with a fair complexion, with a mousy or ginger beard, about six feet tall with a stocky build. He was wearing a grey hooded top, black jeans, white trainers and black gloves.
