WORLD class tribute acts descended on the region for a three day music festival this weekend (May 22 to 24).

Michael Jackson by Ben, Complete Madness and the Bryan Adams Experience were among those performing at the Wannasee Live Music Tribute Festival at Bishop Auckland Football Club’s stadium, Heritage Park, on Saturday, May 23.

Other acts included Rolling Stones by The Stones, Take That and Robbie by Rule the World, Blondie by Heart of Glass and Beautiful South and The Housemartins by The South Martins.

Today (May 24), also saw tributes to AC/DC, Thin Lizzy, Aerosmith, Kings of Leon, Whitesnake, Metallica and Manic Street Preachers take to the stage.

About 1,300 people turned up to see the acts perform with some travelling from as far as Scotland, Wales and Peterborough to enjoy the music.

One of the organisers, John Brannan, said: “The weather was brilliant and it’s gone down a storm.

“We have had a very good response and the organisers are determined to make it an annual event and establish it and we hope to continue to grow.”

He added: “People were impressed with the variety of bands and we’ve had comments saying every tribute was absolutely top draw- even people that braved the rain the year before came back.”
