DARLINGTON Football Club has appointed a new official ahead of their move back home.

It has appointed a new chief commercial officer (CCO) as plans to return to Darlington progress.

Anthony McMaster will spearhead sales and marketing operations while working to generate sustainable commercial revenue and build on the current board's plans.

The Board of Directors issued a statement saying they were delighted to have Mr McMaster as part of the team.

The club’s director, Dave Mills, said: “The club received many applications for this post from well qualified and experienced people with a sales and marketing background.

“Anthony stood out as someone who will maximise existing sales opportunities for the club and also engage with the increasing number of new corporate, commercial and community partners, thereby enhancing the DFC brand awareness in all his dealings and relationships.”

Mr McMaster, who previously worked for the club’s commercial department, will begin with immediate effect and says he is looking forward to the challenge.

“I have experienced many highs and lows with the club in the past, but nothing compares to the feel that is around the club right now," he said.

“From the stewards, volunteers, fans and staff, everyone is pulling in the same direction. This is testament to the astounding efforts both on and off the pitch and it may sound predictable to say it, but it genuinely is an absolute honour to become a part of the Club again.”

The Quakers hope to complete their return to Darlington this year following a fundraising drive and significant refurbishments at their prospective new home, Darlington RFC’s Blackwell Meadows ground.

Work on the ground is scheduled to begin this month to allow the two clubs to share the facilities from the start of the 2015-16 series.
