Peggy Ann plans to follow in the footsteps of starlet Debby Reynolds and become a movie star and will start by winning the local pageant.
The play is based on a on a true story, the play is said to straddle the worlds of comedy and drama, complete with the music of a live fiddler.
It is written and performed by Canadian Comedy Award winner Melody Johnson, with original score and live music by Alison Porter.
Robin Brooks, a member of Barningham Village Hall Committee said: “We are very pleased that it is coming to Barningham – its only date in Teesdale - before it goes on to the north-west and then down to the south of England.
“It promises to be something a little different, with a farming background, but not as we know it.
“This is a great opportunity to enjoy novel, professional theatre in a local venue at a reasonable price.
The show starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £9.50 for adults, £4 for children and £20 for families.
