A WOMAN was sexually assaulted while out jogging in Albert Park, Middlesbrough, on Monday evening.

Police are appealing for information after the woman was attacked while using the park's perimeter path when a man approached from behind at around 6.30pm yesterday (April 20).

She was able to fight him off and the man fled over the fence onto Park Road South.

Detective Sergeant Rachel Taylor from Cleveland Police Major Crime Team, said: “Thankfully the victim was uninjured in the incident, however, she was left very shaken.

“We are interested in speaking to any witnesses who may have been in the area of the park, and in particular a man who was also jogging in the park who came to the woman’s assistance. We would appeal to this man to contact us as he may have information which could assist our enquiries.

“Anyone who may have information regarding the incident or the male responsible is asked to call 101 or Crimestoppers.”

The suspect is described as a white male, aged around 25 years old, of slim build, 5ft 8” – 5ft 10” tall. He was wearing a grey hooded top with the hood up and black jogging bottoms with grey patterns on the rear pockets.
