AN appeal has been launched to find the last living relative of a Bishop Auckland man ahead of his funeral on Monday (March 23).

Diabetes sufferer, David Morton-Tate, 69, died two weeks ago and his funeral is due to be held at Wear Valley Crematorium, near Coundon, in Bishop Auckland.

His ex-wife, Irene Sowerby, is now trying to find his last known relative and cousin, Peter Watson, so he can attend the service.

But despite her best efforts Ms Sowerby says she has been unable to trace Mr Watson in the Bishop Auckland area where the men were born and bred.

“I divorced my husband a long time ago but I’m trying to track down the only living relative he has,” she said.

“Peter lived here for a long time, which is where he was born and him and David grew up like brothers.”

She added: “If Peter wants to contact me he can ring any time night or day – it’s quite important to track him down.”

Call Ms Sowerby on 07805510833 or 07434538484 if you have any information.
