EIGHT Teesside and Darlington residents will be appearing onstage in a classic Arthur Miller play this week.

A View from The Bridge opens at Darlington Civic Theatre tomorrow (March 17) and will feature eight local residents as part of the touring production’s ‘community cast’ initiative.

The Touring Consortium Theatre Company has included community ensembles in their previous tours of To Sir With Love and Brassed Off and auditions were open to all residents, regardless of their acting experience.

Teessider Kat Flynn was among the successful auditionees and said: “I studied Opera at university and then continued taking acting classes after graduating.

“I thought this was such a great opportunity - not to mention I'm a growing fan of Arthur Miller.

“We'll be alongside some wonderful actors and I'm going to learn a lot from this experience. I'm really looking forward to it.”

A View from The Bridge stars Michael Brandon, whose credits include Dempsey & Makepeace and Mr Selfridge and Jonathan Guy Lewis, known for roles in Soldier Soldier, Coronation Street and Silent Witness.

The play runs at Darlington Civic Theatre until Saturday (March 21) and tickets cost from £17.40.
