NORTH-East pop star Alistair Griffin, who was behind the official anthem for the 2014 Tour de France Grand Depart, is set to perform at an after-race party following the forthcoming Tour de Yorkshire.

Griffin, from Castleton, near Whitby, North Yorkshire, will be performing in Danby Village Hall on Friday, May 1, after the inaugural race rides through the Esk Valley.

The Teesside born star who penned The Road, will be bringing his band, plus some special guests, for the Tour de Yorkshire After Party and will perform a mixture of original material and party classics to round off the first day of the three-day event.

Griffin said: “Performing on your home patch is always special and, as a big cycling fan, it seemed a great thing to do as so many people are going to be out and about watching the race as it comes through the valley.”

Griffin's music has been heard across TV and radio, accompanying Sir Chris Hoy as he collected a lifetime achievement award at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year and every weekend during the Formula 1 season, his song Just Drive the theme tune to the Sky Sports coverage.
