DETAILS of a popular North-East 10km run have been released.

This year’s Darlington 10km will take place on Sunday, August 9, starting and finishing in the centre of the town.

In addition to the 10km, there will be a Family Fun Run starting at 9am which is open to all ages including pushchairs.

The 3km Junior Race has also been reintroduced this year for youngsters aged eight to 14-years-old, while the prize category for young athletes aged 15 to 17 will again be included in the 10km which starts at 10.30am.

Once again, the 10km will be chip-timed and text results service will be available to all entrants who provide a mobile telephone number.

All profits from the event will go to two charities nominated by Darlington Rotary Club, which, this year, are Family Help Darlington CIO (Darlington Women’s Refuge) and St Teresa’s Hospice of Darlington.

Sherwoods of Darlington are headline sponsor for the thirteenth year in succession, in partnership, once again, with Vauxhall.

The race is also being supported by The Northern Echo, TFM Radio, and Darlington Rotary Club, which works in partnership with Darlington Borough Council to stage the event.

Updates will be posted at darlington.gov.uk/10km.
