A MAN has appeared in court accused of robbing a woman in Spennymoor, County Durham.
John Robert Connolly appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court this morning (Wednesday, March 11) to face a charge of robbery relating to an early morning incident in Spennymoor on Tuesday, January 27.
It is alleged that the 20-year-old robbed the woman of a purse containing £40 cash and bank cards.
Mr Connolly, whose previous address was in Spennymoor, entered no plea and the case was adjourned to Durham Crown Court on Wednesday, March 25.
He was granted conditional bail to reside at an address in Gainsborough Avenue, South Shields, with an electronically tagged curfew between 8pm and 7am. He was also ordered not to enter Spennymoor except to attend a prior arranged appointment with his solicitor and not to communicate with the victim.
