A MARTIAL arts expert jetted in from the United States to impart his wisdom to eager students in the region.
Master Willie Lim, from Arizona, shared tips and techniques at an exclusive lesson in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, yesterday (Sunday, March 9).
Mr Lim is an eighth dan in taekwondo, a fifth dan in ryu-kyu-kempo karate and an international Tai Chi instructor but believes all martial arts are one of the same.
Steve Wilkinson, who teaches Tai Chi and karate in County Durham, organised the lesson and was blown away by Mr Lim’s ability.
“He was absolutely amazing,” said Mr Wilkinson.
“I have been training for more than 40 years and he showed me how to do things I didn’t know existed before.
“His knowledge and experience blew us all away. What is remarkable is the links he finds between the different martial arts.”
Mr Wilkinson intends to invite Mr Lim back to the North-East in six months time and hopes he will become a regular visitor.
