A ONE-day workshop will focus on Durham’s heritage status.
Durham University’s Institute of Advanced Study (IAS) will host a workshop titled ‘Revisiting Durham’s World Heritage’ on Thursday (March 12).
Sessions will focus on the social and economic impacts of heritage and ‘intangible heritage’ and be led by IAS Fellow and Unesco consultant Kai Weise.
Speakers will include Professor Kiran Fernandes from the UK National Commision for Unesco, Reverend Canon Rosalind Brown who chairs the Durham World Heritage Site co-ordinating committee and Prof Robin Coningham from Durham University.
The workshop will be held in the Senate Suite at Durham Castle from 9am to 4pm.

Kai Weise will also give a public lecture titled ‘Sharing Experiences of Managing World Heritage Sites in Asia with Durham’ in Palace Green Library at 5.30pm.
Entry is free and open to all and there will be drinks reception afterwards.
