TWO armed men have held up a betting shop.
The men robbed Chisholm Bookmakers, on Fielding Court, South Shields, South Tyneside, shortly after 9pm on Saturday (March 7).
They entered the store both wearing decorating suits. One, in a blue suit, was armed with a knife. The other, in white, was carrying a hammer.
They demanded cash, were given it and made off towards Biddick Hall School. No-one was hurt.
Northumbria Police have launched an investigation and are appealing to any witnesses and anyone with information to come forward.
Detective Constable Craig Huitson said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to trace the two men involved in this incident.
“They were both distinctively dressed in decorating suits which may have attracted people’s attention in the area.
“I’d urge anyone who thinks they may have seen them to come forward.
“We have officers in the area to provide reassurance for residents. Anyone with concerns or information should talk to them.”
