TRAIN passengers and rail enthusiasts enjoyed a rare delight yesterday (Saturday, March 7) as two classic steam locomotives steamed through northern England. The 'Lancashire Fusilier' and 'Leander' are pictured hauling 'The Hadrian' train over Durham Viaduct, passing the historic landmarks of Durham Cathedral and Castle.
The rail tour, which takes in some of the North's most spectacular scenery, started in Manchester before heading up the West Coast mainline to Carlisle before returning along the 175 year old picturesque Tyne Valley and finally south on the East Coast line. Photo: North News & Pictures
