MUSEUM visitors threw brightly coloured powder over one another to celebrate the arrival of spring.
Durham University’s Oriental Museum hosted a celebration of the Indian Holi Festival today (Sunday, March 8), which saw visitors taking part in the traditional powder throwing ceremony, set against a backdrop of Indian music.
There was also storytelling and craft activities.
The museum first held the event last year. It is thought to be the only Holi celebration in the north of England.
The festival began in the Hindu tradition but has been picked up across South Asia and beyond.
