HERITAGE hunters toured a restored blacksmith’s shop at the weekend (Saturday, March 7).
The Hetton Smithy was saved from near collapse and fully repaired, allowing owner John Guy to start holding open days.
Such sessions are now held monthly, with Mr Guy available to answer questions about his work and traditional blacksmith skills.
Open days will be held on the first Saturday of the month throughout this year, from 10am to 2pm.
The smithy, in Hetton-le-Hole, Wearside, was restored in 2013, through a Durham County Council-supported Limestone Landscapes Partnership project backed by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
