A GREAT-grandmother has celebrated her 100th birthday with afternoon tea with her family.
Ivy Egglestone was born in Ferryhill, County Durham, on March 7, 1915.
She was married to John, a mechanical engineer for the National Coal Board, who died in 1999.
They lived for a time in Coxhoe and for the last few years Mrs Egglestone has been in Sherburn Hospital home, near Durham.
She has a son Malcolm and a daughter Barbara, two grandsons and a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren, a boy and a girl.
Her family joined her for a birthday afternoon tea at Sherburn Hospital yesterday (Saturday March 7).
She is pictured holding her congratulatory card from Her Majesty the Queen.
