A CONSORTIUM of major historic houses has been honoured for its efforts to mark the outbreak of the First World War.
The Yorkshire Country House Partnership was awarded one of the prestigious 2015 Hudson’s Heritage Awards at a ceremony held in London’s Goldsmith’s Hall.
The partnership won the award for the Best World War One Event’ for Duty Calls: The Country House in Time of War -a series of exhibitions and events at nine historic houses across Yorkshire throughout 2013 and 2014.
They included Beningbrough Hall near York); Fairfax House in York; Castle Howard near Malton; and Kiplin Hall at Scorton near Richmond.
