CHILDREN are being invited to apply for possibly the best job in the world – Head of Fun at one of Europe’s biggest shopping centres.

The Metrocentre in Gateshead wants to recruit an advisor, aged between six and 10, whose jobs will include testing new toys to be sold in the centre and helping out Santa’s elves at Christmas.

The successful candidate will help make shopping a far more child-friendly experience, providing specialist advice of all its children’s activities – and, in exchange, they will be paid handsomely in gift vouchers and toys.

The Head of Fun will be first in line to meet any stars and special guests visiting the shopping mall, but will only be asked to help out during holidays and half term breaks.

Helen Atkinson, marketing manager at the intu Metrocentre, said: “We are looking for someone extra special; we’re looking for a cool, creative and confident kid.

“Our Head of Fun will need to have endless enthusiasm, an inventive imagination, a knowledge of popular characters and a really good idea of what makes a great toy”.

To apply, children must explain in up to 200 words why they think they should be Head of Fun which can be dropped off at Exhibition Square or emailed to metrocentre.information@intu.co.uk.
