A NEW book on the 1984-5 Miners’ Strike is out soon.

From a Rock to a Hard Place was written by Beverley Trounce, a librarian and archivist whose father was a miner and spent the strike in the coal-mining area of Nottinghamshire.

The book covers the pickets, the collieries, the impact of the strike on families and communities and the legacy of the divisive episode.

It is based on first-hand interviews with people affected and includes a contribution by Yorkshire striking miner Charlie Cibor.

Royalties from book sales will go to the Miners’ Welfare Fund.

From a Rock to a Hard Place is published in paperback by The History Press, priced £12.99, and will be published in February.
