THIS exotic parrot is a long, long way from home.
The orange-winged Amazon parrot is native to South America but has been spotted in Durham City.
Stan Abbott, who saw the bird in his garden, said: “We thought it was a ring-necked parakeet as there are colonies this far north and there have been sightings as near as Brasside within the last year or so.”
But the Durham Wildlife Trust identified the bird as an orange-winged Amazon parrot.
The Trust believes it may be an escaped pet, Mr Abbott said.
