A MAN was airlifted to hospital today (Sunday) after falling off his mountain bike in Hamsterley Forest.

The 41-year-old, from Darlington, was treated at the scene by paramedics and a doctor-lead trauma team before being flown to the James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough.

It is understood he suffered injuries to his pelvis and abdomen, but these were non-life-threatening. He arrived at the hospital within 13 minutes where his condition was said to be stable at about 10am.
