RALLYCROSS drivers geared up for a major championship by displaying their cars in Darlington this weekend.

On Saturday, visitors to the town had the opportunity to meet local drivers and get up close to their high-powered vehicles.

The event was held as a taster ahead of the penultimate outing of the BTRDA Rallycross Championship, taking place at Croft Circuit on Sunday, November 16.

Barnard Castle hotelier ‘Mad’ Mark Watson showed off his 550bhp Citroen Xsara, while Northallerton garage owner Guy Corner parked up his supercharged Peugeot 206 and Newcastle businessman Brian Jukes displayed his Audi TT.

Representatives from event organisers, the Darlington and District Motor Club, were also on hand to talk about the upcoming meeting and encourage visitors to sign up.

Next week’s event will see more than 60 rallycross cars take to the circuit.

Tickets are £8 in advance and £10 on the day with under-15s admitted free.
