FILM crews took over Darlington this weekend as a local filmmaker shot his latest trailer.

John Fletcher with his cast and crew were in the town to film a trailer for the upcoming revenge thriller Kill.

Director and writer Mr Fletcher, 44, will eventually show the trailer to producers in a bid to attract financial backing for the film, which follows the story of a man seeking to avenge his sister’s death.

Shot in a number of familiar locations – including Darlington Rugby Club, Maggie’s Place and The Forum – the trailer features a host of local talent.

Middlesbrough-born actor Bill Fellows takes a central role while Darlington’s Les Langley, once crowned the country’s best groomed man also appears, virtually unrecognisable with a beard.

The shoot – which took place over four days and ended today (Sunday, November 9) – was supported by a number of North-East businesses and the wider community.

Mr Fletcher said: “It’s been brilliant to get so much community support – everyone I’ve approached was happy to help by donating things for free.

“I try to keep everything local because I live in Darlington and really think it’s got some great locations and some very talented people.

Mr Fletcher took up filmmaking four years ago following the loss of his father and has had previous short films shown at the world-renowned Cannes Film Festival.
