WIFI and funky pink and purple artwork are just two of the features of a new 25-strong fleet of buses.

The end of the £3.5m project by Stagecoach saw four of the vehicles parked on Stockton High Street so new maps and timetables could be handed out.

Their striking design is based on the concept of four zones - ‘Comfortzone’, ‘Timezone’, ‘Zoneout’ and ‘Ozone’ - and they have environmentally friendly engines

They are also accessible for wheelchair users.

Phil Medlicott, managing director of Stagecoach North East, said: “It was great to see so many people brave the rain to come and meet with us at our road show in the High Street.

"We continually look towards enhancing our fleet and we hope the investment will significantly improve our customers' travel experience."

Alex Cunningham, MP for Stockton North, said: “I am delighted to see that as part of its new investment Stagecoach has responded to calls from residents, councillors and the local MP by improving routes and introducing new evening and Sunday services, including to the Glebe in Norton.

"This is very good news for my constituents. I look forward to continuing to work with Stagecoach to deliver the further improvements to services that local people want.”
