THE body of a 75-year-old Ferryhill man was recovered from the River Wear hours after he went missing.
The pensioner was reported missing from home on the night of Friday, October 31.
His body was spotted by a member of the public at 8.30am the following day in the river close to The Honest Lawyer Hotel, at Croxdale Bridge, near to Durham.
Emergency services were called and the body was pulled from the water by a County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service crew.
The police are not treating the death as suspicious and the file has been passed to the coroner.
