ONLINE tributes were last night paid to a woman who died after being involved in a road accident.

Pedestrian Vikki Tinkler, 30, sustained serious injuries after being hit by a car on Stephenson Way, Newton Aycliffe, at about 8.35pm on Friday.

She is understood to have suffered head and pelvic injuries and was rushed to the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, but died on Saturday.

Friends and relatives took to Facebook to pay emotional tributes to the young mother, who leaves behind several family members including parents Dez and Lesley Tinkler, sister Annalise Tinkler and brother Dez Tinkler.

On Saturday, friend Jenny Garret posted: “Rip Vikki, one of my best and oldest friends, can’t believe we were only messaging each other yesterday :(((xxx.”

Another friend, Sammy-Jo Pearson-Scanlon added: “I seriously can’t get my head round this what so ever I was only talking to you the other day – I just can’t get it into my head – RIP Vikki Tinkler – you will be missed loads hun – so young – it’s awful xx.”

Ms Tinkler’s brother also replied to tributes saying: “Thanks everyone im destroyed never felt hurt like this for long time now.”

Condolences have been paid to Ms Tinkler’s family as dozens more took to Facebook to pay their respects.

Linda Hill said: “Words can't describe what you are all going through,for once I am speechless and devastated xxx.”

Gary Bailey added: “havnt got the words right now so sad thinking of you all xxx.”

Billy Naisbett said: “Devastated for you all, and words fail me - I'm sorry.”

Chris Brannigan said: “Les just seen this so shocked and devastated only last week we spoke and Vikki said we should meet up wish so much we had my heart goes out to you all and if you need anything please just msg me I'll always be there for you all.”

Police are appealing for any witnesses who have not already come forward to contact them by ringing 101.
