IT has been suggested that notorious police killer Harry Roberts may have been responsible for a bank raid in Darlington in the mid-60s.
Roberts, now 78, was jailed for life for killing three unarmed policemen in an act which shocked the country and was condemned by the judge as "the most heinous crime for a generation or more".
A reader has emailed to say that Roberts, may have carried out a raid on the Barclays Bank in Albert Road in the town in which a bank clerk was shot and injured.
Roberts was said to have escaped by car through Haughton.
