A COUPLE’S dreams have come true after winning The Northern Echo’s Win a Wedding competition.

Kathryn Miller and Michael Stones, of Shildon, were nominated by Miss Miller’s aunt, Jill Clarke, who wrote a poem dedicated to the pair.

It said: “For a couple so young their love has been put to the test, during Kathryn’s treatment for cancer, Michaels support was the best.

“On Valentine’s day Michael went down on one knee, and asked Kathryn to marry him, she was filled with glee.”

Miss Miller said: “We are both so thrilled that we have been so lucky to win the wedding competition. We have been given so much support and would like to thank every single person who has voted for us.

“Also the people who have helped us through some really difficult times, we are very, very grateful and we are absolutely over the moon that we have won.”

Their prize includes a £1,000 bridal gown from Just Perfect, suit hire for the groom, best man, and two ushers and a photography package worth £1,600 from Ever After Photography.

Miss Miller added: “I’m so excited to try on wedding dresses, there’s so much to think about now we can’t wait to get started.

“We still can’t believe we’ve won, we would have had to save for a long time if we didn’t win the competition. We are so grateful, it's a dream come true.”

The wedding will take place on Friday, April 17, 2015 at Walworth Castle, near Darlington.
