BOLLYWOOD dancers are to add a taste of the Orient to the opening of an exhibition on the railways of India.

Photographer Ray Price is to display his black and white photographs in the India in Steam exhibition at Locomotion: The National Railway Museum in Shildon.

The work documents Mr Price’s travels across India in 1982 when he travelled nearly 7,000 miles across the sub-continent by rail.

He visited engine sheds, depots, stations and towns and met the people who operated the system.

The display opens on Saturday (August 30) when the Bollywood Belles dance troupe will perform at the museum.

Dance performances will be held by the group between 2.30pm and 3.30pm. There will also be Indian-themed activities for youngsters.

The India in Steam exhibition runs from Saturday until Sunday, October 5 with entry between 10am and 5pm each day with free entry.
