BRIT pop band, Dodgy, who shot to fame in the 1990s, headlined a family music festival in the region yesterday (Sunday, August 42).

The group, best known for hits Good Enough and Staying out for the Summer, were the main act at Shildonbury Party in the Park in Shildon, County Durham.

About 800 people attended the event at Hackworth Park, which also featured performances from North-East bands, including The Last Fakers and JD and the Woodsmen, and tribute acts, such as Maroon 4 and The Bryan Adams Experience.

Festival-goers were also treated to fun fair rides, face painting, street artists and a host other entertaining activities.

Event organiser John Brannan, who was behind the successful Wannasee live music tribute festival at Bishop Auckland Football Club in May, said: “It was a great day and there was a real family atmosphere, with lots of people bringing their kids along.

“We hope the event will be bigger and better next year, attracting people from outside of Shildon too. We are already talking to bands and hope to have another well known act to headline in 2015.”
