YOUNGSTERS had a fun time today (Wednesday, August 6) dressing up as their favourite characters and helped a leading cancer charity.
The Old Bridge Nursery in Shincliffe Village, near Durham City, which Niall Quinn’s children went to when he was Sunderland AFC’s chairman, held the event in honour of the four-year-olds who are leaving to start school in September.
The childred dressed as Superheroes and Princesses in return for a donation to Macmillzan Cancer Support. The nursery hopes to have made about £200.
Judy Cairns, the nursery manager, said: “The pre-school leavers go to school in September so we thought we’d have a fun day for them, a Superheroes and Princesses day.
“The parents brought them in fancy dress with a donation to Macmillan. We have had cakes made and we are having games – pass the parcel and musical bumps m- we are doing colouring, and we are providing a lunch with jelly and ice cream.
“We have got a lot of children who are going to school and we have included the youngster ones. It was all for them to have a good day based on the fact we are doing something for pre-school because most of them have been with us since they were six weeks old.
“The most popular costumes are Spiderman and a character from Frozen, Elsa.”
