WITNESS APPEAL: Police appeal for help after city centre rape

A WOMAN has been raped in a city centre attack.

The 26-year-old victim reported she had been raped in the Westgate Road area of Newcastle near the city’s bowling alley.

The incident happened at some time between 11pm on Friday and 4am on Saturday.

Police say the investigation is in its early stages and specially trained officers are supporting the victim.

Officers have issued a description of a man in his 20s or 30s, who was around 5ft 9 tall and of thin build.

He had dark hair and young looking features, with fresh stubble. At the time he was wearing a pale coloured short-sleeved t-shirt, navy blue jeans and trainers.
