A CHARITY day at a Northern League club has been hailed as a success.
Durham City AFC hosted the event at their New Ferens Park home ground, in Belmont, on Saturday (July 20), in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
First team players took part in a challenge match, firefighters showed off their skills and Durham Police’s dog section entertained young visitors.
Councillor John Robinson, the Mayor of Durham, was the guest of honour.
Club chairman Olivier Bernard, the former Newcastle United defender, said: “It was really good to see so many people come and support our family fun day.
“I look forward to welcoming everyone back next year and hope to make it an even bigger event.”
Tonight (Monday, July 21), the Citizens will play a friendly against North East Christian Fellowship League side Emmanuel Church FC, after their scheduled opponents, South Shields, pulled out. Kick-off at New Ferens Park is 7.30pm.
