A CHARITY that helps children who struggle to learn to read is appealing for volunteers in the region.
Beanstalk, a national charity that gives one-to-one literacy support to children in primary schools, needs people to work with children who have fallen behind with their reading.
Volunteers work with three children and see each child for two 30 minute sessions a week, during term-time, for a whole year.
Together they read, play and talk to help build the children's confidence and approach to reading so they can enjoy it and learn at their own pace.
Volunteers are needed across County Durham, especially in the Bishop Auckland and Chester-le-Street areas.
