FANTASTIC flavours from across the world will be available on the streets of the North-East as a popular market makes a return.

A three-day Continental Market is to be held in Durham, starting on Friday, June 20, which will turn the Market Place into a food-lover’s paradise.

Delicacies from China, Spain, Italy, Turkey, Poland and more will be on offer, alongside British traders such as the award-winning Sawley Kitchen from Yorkshire. In addition, there will be craft stalls such as jewellery, alpaca and woollen goods, clothing accessories and garden furniture.

Colin Wilkes, Managing Director of Durham Markets, commented: “The Continental Market brings an interesting selection of different traders into the Market Place, many from overseas, offering products we rarely get the chance to pick up on our doorstep.

“Like many of the small businesses in Durham, these are independent traders who are passionate and knowledgeable about what they do.

“This market gives us all the chance to chat with the traders and pick up hints and tips about how best to use what we are buying.

“Furthermore, the Continental Food Market is in Durham for three days and will attract additional footfall into the city where shoppers will also have the opportunity to look around the wealth of independent businesses we have here, and discover all that they have to offer.”

The Continental Food Market will be open from 10am to 5pm on Friday and Saturday and from 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
