CRAFTY women have been helping to make life more comfortable for cancer patients.
Maggie Taylor and Sheila Swainston, both volunteers at the Macmillan Cancer Information Centre at Bishop Auckland Hospital, and their friends from Tursdale and Hett Women's Institute, spent a busy session in Hett Village Hall, in County Durham, making Breast Buddy cushions, which are ideal for women who have had mastectomies.
Using fabric donated by The All In One Company, from Northumberland, they made more than 70 of the comfort cushions, each one finished with a matching bow and a message reading 'stitched with love'.
Mrs Swainston said: "We are delighted that we managed to make so many Breast Buddies and I know that the patients will be very pleased to receive them."
