CANINE coats are being groomed to perfection thanks to a new dog salon in Shildon.

Classy Pawz dog grooming salon has been inundated with customers since opening at Unit 10B, on the Dabble Duck Industrial Estate, three weeks ago.

Business partners Jayne Petty, from Shildon, and Laura Coxon, from Bishop Auckland, welcomed the Mayor of Shildon, Councillor Henry Nicholson, to officially open the facility yesterday (Saturday, May 31).

The salon was the brainchild of Mrs Petty, who noticed a gap in the market for a dog grooming service in Shildon.

She teamed up with Miss Coxon, who has several years experience of grooming pets at Wilson's Veterinary Group, in Bishop Auckland.

She thanked everyone who helped them set up the business, particularly the South Durham Enterprise Agency.

She said: “We have been full every day since opening and everyone has rebooked.

“It doesn’t feel like being at work, we are loving it.

“We have received some great support. All of our family and friends have mucked in to help.”

Coun Nicholson said: “It is always very pleasing to see a new business being created in Shildon and it is really encouraging to see that people have worked so hard.”
