A MAD Hatters Ball has raised more than £8,000 for charity.

The Stroke Association organised the Alice In Wonderland-themed evening at the Radisson Blu Hotel, in Durham on May 9.

Guests enjoyed a three course meal, drinks reception and live entertainment including a stilt-walking Mad Hatter, magician, singers, dancers and a disco.

Regional fund raiser Janet Price said: “We hosted the Mad Hatters Ball to celebrate Action on Stroke Month and raise awareness of stroke and mini-stroke.

“Someone in the UK has a stroke every three and a half minutes, we need to do everything we can to change that.

“The evening was full of Alice in Wonderland themed surprises and entertainment, and a great night was had by all.

“The money raised will help the Stroke Association’s work to prevent strokes and reduce their effect through campaigning, education and research.

“It will also help us to support people adjusting to a life after stroke in the North East.”
