A BARBER with a passion for sport is staging a football tournament next month to help fund livesaving treatment for a North-East toddler.

James Willcock, of the Sportsman Barber Shop in Fishburn, County Durham, hopes to raise hundreds of pounds for Bradley Lowery’s Fight Against Neuroblastoma.

Two-year-old Bradley, of Blackhall, near Peterlee, was born with a rare form of childhood cancer and his family need to raise £500,000 in case the youngster requires further treatment abroad.

Mr Willcock, who recently moved his barber shop to Front Street, said: “As a father of a little boy myself, Bradley’s story really touched me.

“If I was in that situation and needed to raise money I would hope people would support me.”

The football tournament, at Sedgefield Community College, takes place from 11.30am on Saturday, June 14, and is open to players of all ages of ability.

Three teams of ten have already signed up and 13 spaces are available.

Entry is £100, excluding player insurance, and teams should have a strip to wear.

FA trained referees and event sponsors are also needed.

The event will be followed by a barbecue at the Black Lion pub in Sedgefield.
