NORTH Yorkshire Police have arrested a 34-year-old man from the York area over racial abuse of a disabled busker in York last Saturday. The eastern European, who has no legs, was sat on a skateboard performing in the busy shopping area of Coney Street at about midday when the incident happened. Police say a 34-year-old has been arrested and bailed.

INVESTIGATION ONGOING: Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances of a sexual assault in riverside gardens in York. North Yorkshire Police said the victim, a 20-year-old woman, was continuing to receive support from specially trained police officers. The attack happened in the early hours of Thursday in North Street Gardens, alongside the River Ouse. The gardens were sealed off and guarded all day at entrances near to Lendal Bridge and the Park Inn by Radisson hotel, but the cordon was removed on Thursday night. A force spokesman said police inquiries remained ongoing and two men, aged 24 and 26 and both from York, who were arrested in connection with the assault and remained on police bail.
