A19 BLAZE: A Landrover Discovery was destroyed after catching fire on the northbound carriageway of the A19 in North Yorkshire at 3.30pm this afternoon (Monday, April 21).

A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said the cause of the fire was thought to be electrical. No-one was hurt in the incident, which took place near the East Rounton / Black Swan junction, near Northallerton.

HOUSE FIRE: Fire crews from Stokesley, Northallerton and Coulby Newham were called to a house fire at Leconfield in Seamer, near Stokesley tonight (Monday, April 21).

The fire broke out in an upstairs bedroom at 5.15pm and involved a hairdryer under clothing and bedding which had been accidentally switched on and caught fire.

The fire was out by the time crews arrived, and fire fighters dampened down the area involved.
