YARM School is playing host to an international film festival as it tours round the UK and Ireland.

The 2014 UK and Ireland Banff Mountain Film Festival will bring together mountain sports enthusiasts to watch the latest “outdoor experience” films on Saturday, April 26.

“Split of a Second”, a film which features wingsuit world champion, Espen Fadnes, will be featured in the festival, as well as professional kayakers exploring the rainforests of southern Mexico in “Beyond the Drop”.

The film programme is selected from the 360 films which were entered into the prestigious Banff Mountain Film Festival held in the Canadian Rockies.

David Dunn, headmaster of Yarm School, said “The Banff Mountain Film Festival will bring together some of the best films from the mountain sports community on a global level, which should prove to be great entertainment for everyone attending, and is not to be missed.”

The Banff World Tour visits more than 40 different countries and is enjoyed by more than 300,000 people. The UK and Ireland tour is the biggest one to date, with 56 screenings being shown across 40 different locations.

At Yarm, the films will be shown in the school’s 750-seat Princess Alexandra Auditorium, which has won awards for its design.
