Five men - including one from the North-East - have pleaded guilty to violent disorder following an investigation into disturbances during an English Defence League rally.
Michael Wilson, James Olley-Shields, Phillip Collins, Christopher Layton and Michael Dyer all admitted the charge during a hearing at Birmingham Crown Court.
Missiles, including rocks and glass bottles, were thrown at police lines during the protest in Centenary Square on July 20 last year.
Wilson, 19, of Arkley Crescent, Hartlepool; Olley-Shields, 21, of Hanbury Hill, Stourbridge; Collins, 28, of Bandywood Crescent, Kingstanding, Birmingham; Layton, 27, of Oakhurst Road, Acocks Green, Birmingham, and Dyer, 33, of Morse Road, Nailbridge, Gloucestershire, were all granted bail and will be sentenced on a date to be fixed.
Eight other defendants accused of committing offences at an EDL demonstration in Birmingham city centre were not required to enter a plea during the hearing.
