POLICE are appealing for information after a woman was groped by a man on a mountain bike.

The incident happened at 2.55pm, on Wednesday, March 5, in Philadelphia, on Wearside.

The 20-year-old victim was walking along Raglan Row when the offender rode to her left hand side and groped her before cycling off.

She was left shaken but unharmed by the incident.

The man is described as white, in his late 40s, with grey hair, and of chubby build with chubby fingers.

He was wearing a dark blue baseball cap, a navy blue waist-length jacket and dark blue work trousers.

He was carrying a blue backpack that had a Sunderland AFC badge on it.

Anyone with information is asked to call Northumbria Police on 101, extension 69191, quoting log number 708 05/03/14.
