A GRANDMOTHER says she has achieved her lifetime’s ambition, after publishing a racy novel.

Joy Pounder, of Thirsk, said she had wanted to write a book since leaving school, but became inspired to finally put pen to paper after the death of her youngest brother, Arthur Barnard, three months after being diagnosed with cancer.

Mrs Pounder’s book, Going Up and Going Down, which she has written under the pen name Eva Bielby, relates the story of an accountant with a privileged upbringing who becomes a call girl and exacts her revenge on her husband.

The resort manager said: “None of us know how long we are here for so I decided to get on with writing a book.

“I’ve found I love writing and since starting it I have wished I had done it years ago.”

She said she had used her life experience, overheard conversations and documentaries to create the story.

Mrs Pounder said her husband, Graham, and family were very proud that she had published the book, which will the first of a trilogy she expects to complete by next January.

The book, which has received numerous strong reviews, is available in paperback for £8.99 and on Kindle at £3.08 by visiting amazon.co.uk
