POLICE are appealing for information after a collection of birds was stolen from a village allotment.

Goldfinches, siskins and hens were taken from a shed at a site near High Street, Byers Green, which was targeted overnight on Wednesday, February 5 to Thursday, February 6.

The goldfinches and siskins were ringed with identifying numbers.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Michael Westerman at Crook police office on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800-555111.

All that time effort and dedication, and some low life ruins it all because there dole was stopped.
