CHILDREN were in fine voice when they sang for supermarket shoppers to raise money for youngsters affected by the conflict in Syria.

Pupils from St Anne's Primary School and St John’s School and Sixth Form College, in Bishop Auckland, provided a soundtrack for customers at Sainsbury's, in St Helen Auckland, on Friday. (Friday, January 31)

Inspired by the singing, generous shoppers donated £240 to the schools’ collections in aid of Unicef's Sing for Syria campaign.

The charity will put the money towards its work in Syria providing medicine, water, food, education and protection to the millions of children affected by the crisis there.
